Tour Overview

Cappadocia Red Tour

Six stops across the most photographed valleys in Turkey make the Cappadocia Red Tour the region's signature route. Walk through the animal-shaped pillars of Devrent Valley, see towering fairy chimneys at Pasabag, shape clay at an Avanos pottery workshop, and take in the Goreme panorama, all guided, with lunch and entrance fees arranged.

Zelve Open Air Museum adds the rock-cut history of the region, where troglodyte communities once carved their homes into the valley walls. The route closes with Uchisar Castle, viewed from outside, and keeps an easy pace with no long walks between stops, a gentle introduction for first-time visitors.

Tour Highlights

  • The definitive first-timer route links every landmark that defines north Cappadocia, from animal-shaped rock columns to ancient troglodyte communities.
  • Fully handled logistics, hotel pickup, entrance tickets, lunch, and a licensed guide, so there is nothing to organize on the day itself.
  • More than scenery, the route balances volcanic geology with living craft culture at Avanos and layered rock-cut history at Zelve, giving the day real range.
  • Outstanding photography stops from Devrent Valley's surreal columns to the Goreme valley panorama and the unmistakable silhouette of Uchisar Castle.
  • Comfortable one-day pace designed for small groups, with no long walks and no rushed transitions between stops.
  • The Red Tour is the strongest starting point for any first visit to north Cappadocia. Visiting from Istanbul? Our Istanbul to Cappadocia tour includes this route with flights and a cave or stone hotel. Prefer your own guide and schedule? Upgrade to the private Cappadocia tour on the same route. Want the full picture? Add the Cappadocia Green Tour for the southern valleys.

Cappadocia Red Tour Route · 6 stops Devrent Valley (Pink Valley) → Pasabag Open Air Museum → Avanos Pottery Workshop → Goreme Panoramic View → Zelve Open Air Museum → Uchisar Castle (exterior view)

Devrent Valley (Pink Valley)

Few places in Turkey make you feel as small as Devrent Valley, where erosion has quietly sculpted an entire zoo from volcanic rock.

Pasabag Open Air Museum

Few Cappadocia landmarks are as visually striking as Pasabag, where rock pillars rise to improbable heights with multiple mushroom-shaped caps.

Avanos Pottery Workshop

At the Avanos pottery workshop, you get a turn on the wheel yourself, and most visitors are surprised by how fast the clay responds to their hands.

Goreme Panoramic View

Goreme Panoramic View is considered the single best photo spot on the Cappadocia Red Tour, offering a full valley outlook with no obstructions.

Zelve Open Air Museum

Unlike other museum sites in the area, which focuses on frescoed churches, Zelve shows you the full picture of cave village life, including homes and working spaces.

Uchisar Castle (exterior view)

Your Red Tour stop at Uchisar is an exterior viewing stop, giving you the full scale of the castle rock from the best photographic angle.

  • Did this after the balloon flight and it was the perfect combo. In the morning you see Cappadocia from above and then in the afternoon you walk through it on the ground. Pasabag fairy chimneys are massive and the monk cells carved inside are facinating. Devrent Valley was quirky and fun. Goreme panoramic viewpoint was beautful. Guide Mehmet was great. Lunch included which was a nice bonus.

  • You have to do this tour when your in Cappadocia. The fairy chimneys are the most unique geological formations I've ever seen. Pasabag is the main event and it does not disapoint, giant mushroom shaped rocks with caves carved into them. Goreme viewpoint shows you the scale of the landscape. Pottery making in Avanos was surprizingly fun. Guide Erkan was friendly and knew all the best photo spots. Lunch was simple but good.
