Ten days in Turkey and Egypt: be selective
Tรผrkiye and Egypt are each worth a substantial holiday, so ten days together means making real choices. A practical route might combine Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus and Cairo, but it will include several transfer days. That is an excellent trip for energetic travelers who want a concentrated overview; it is less suitable for someone seeking quiet mornings in a single resort.
The best test of an itinerary is this: how many full sightseeing days remain after flights, airports and hotels? Count those before judging the headline list of destinations.
One way to divide the trip
Begin with Istanbul for two or three nights. See the historic peninsula and enjoy a Bosphorus perspective. If you arrive late after an international flight, let the first evening be gentle.
Continue to Cappadocia for a couple of nights. Enjoy the volcanic valleys, rock-cut heritage and an optional sunrise balloon attempt. The flight is weather dependent, so a single available morning comes with real disappointment risk.
Visit the Ephesus region if the logistics make sense for your route. Its Roman-era streets deserve several uninterrupted hours and comfortable shoes. You may need to choose between additional Selรงuk sights and a smoother onward connection.
Finish with Cairo, protecting a meaningful day for the Giza pyramids and Sphinx and another for museums or historic Cairo. Do not plan a major Giza excursion immediately after a very late arrival if your group will be exhausted.
When is ten days too tight?
If you also want a Nile cruise, Luxor, Antalya and multiple Greek islands, ten days simply cannot offer comfortable depth. Add time or remove destinations. A Nile cruise alone can occupy several days, and its schedule is structured around sailing and shore excursions.
Ask a tour operator to show you actual airport names, flight legs and overnight locations. Some packages list โday in Cappadociaโ without making it clear how much of that day is spent in transit.
Compare packages with the right questions
Are domestic and international flights included? Confirm all sectors individually and whether baggage is covered.
Who handles visa requirements? Operators can provide information, but travelers remain responsible for checking official rules for their passport.
Are major entrance tickets included? Giza, museum visits, Ephesus and any special-access areas may be priced separately.
Can we slow down? Ask whether one destination can be dropped in exchange for another hotel night. Customizing the pace may make the whole trip feel much more valuable.
Ten days can be memorable. Just make sure the itinerary is a holiday with ancient wonders, not ten days of checking in and out.
